PHYLLIS TICHININ

Trained as a soil scientist and environmental policy specialist at Univ. California at Davis, Phyllis worked in the Governor’s Office on environmental matters before moving from California to NZ with her Kiwi husband when he accepted a teaching position at Lincoln in the mid 1980’s.  Since then she has studied organic agriculture, taking up farm consulting in 2006.

Her orientation toward farming has been heavily influenced by Dr Arden Andersen, Dr Paul Dettloff and Dr Jerry Brunetti – one medical doctor and two vets – who view agriculture as a biology and physics-based system.

She founded True Health Ltd in 2010 to provide organically certified plant-based remedies to assist the dairy industry to wean itself off the use of antibiotics, given their damaging impacts on soil and animal health.

She describes herself as an Eco-nutritionist – Someone who looks for the patterns that link soil health, food nutrient density, environmental integrity and human well-being.  She specialises in coaching farmers to grow foods that heal both people and the planet and in educating consumers to demand healthy food from truly healthy soils.   She is keen for farmers to see themselves as the foundation for planetary recovery…. the real health professionals.
